Best blender vs Most affordable blender

If you're like me and like to experiment with all kinds of things in the kitchen, a blender is a must-have tool. I went through a smoothie phase and now I'm going through a hummus phase. I've actually tried all kinds of bean purées at this point. To do this you eed a good blender. Because I'm budget concious I try to find one that will not die on me as I try all kinds of sticky preparations, but at the same time I don't want to break the bank. One way I found to save on cost when I buy at Amazon is to get used items. For kitchenware this has been worth it for me so far. Find something you like and wait until a used version is available at a much lower price. So should you buy the best blender or the most affordable blender? I say buy the best blender you can afford, no need to go overboard. Think about your preferences, plastic or glass, I prefer glass of course, it's easier to clean, and well it's not plastic... The downside is that the glass bowl will be more expensive. Unless it's for medical reasons I am not one to go over budget just so I don't use plastic. I am far from the no plastic lifestyle at this point. I mean I am typing this on a very plastic"y" computer. To stick with a glass bowl I'd get this one (affiliate link), nice color and glass bowl. The only downside is I find it a bit underpowed at 1500W but it should be fine for common use.

For a 2000W blender, so far I've only seen plastic bowl ones so this one looks good. I feel more confident with the 2000W that it is less likely to die on me.
